Stage: Chantada-Rodeiro
Beautiful hórreos (traditional granaries), shrines and Calveries appear on the way to Centulle and San Xurxo de Asma, together with magnificent examples of oak and chestnut trees.
Chantada- Centulle
We leave Chantada from the Plaza de Santa Ana, we go up the Rúa Uxío Novoneyra and continue along the LU-P-180 road. Beautiful hórreos (traditional granaries), shrines and Calveries appear on the way to Centulle and San Xurxo de Asma, together with magnificent examples of oak and chestnut trees. We cross A Lucenza, then Vilaseco and Penasillás. In front of us rises the summit of Mount Faro.
Chantada - Centulle
Centulle- Nosa Señora do Faro
On going up to the mount (4.8 km of hard ascent from Penasillás). We pass by Chao de Seixas. A detour to the left takes us through a via crucis by what is known as the “Camiño da Virxe”— to the famous hermitage of A Nosa Señora do Faro. We are now at an altitude of over 1,100 metres. The view from here is unique as it takes in the four provinces of Galicia.
If we want to avoid going up to Monte Faro, on arriving at Penasillás, we have an alternative which passes through Mouricios and San Vicente. It is a shorter way and we avoid the snow in winter.
Centulle - A Nosa Señora do Faro
Nosa Señora do Faro- Río
We again set out on the Camino, now descending towards the Casa Grande de Camba. We then continue by the Valley of A Ermida to Río. The wood with the most typical native trees of Galicia —oaks, chestnuts and willows— enrich our pilgrimage.
A Nosa Señora do Faro - Río
Río- Rodeiro
We continue on to Mouriz, now on flat stretches with stone tracks, and we soon culminate this stage in Rodeiro, where we find the Town Hall, which was built on the ruins of a fortress. Opposite it there is a beautiful, refreshing stone fountain with four pipes.
