Stage: Monforte de Lemos-Chantada

We continue deep in the region of the Ribeira Sacra: among Monasteries, vineyards and landscapes full of force and charm. We arrive at A Vide and then A Lagoa, Campos and Pacios. In the rainy season flooding is frequent at the beginning of this stage, with completely flat stretches.

Monforte de Lemos- Moreda

We leave Monforte by the medieval bridge, the Campo de San Antonio and the old Rúa Abeledos. We alternate stretches of road (the LU-P-3204) with tracks. We arrive at A Vide and then A Lagoa, Os Campos and Pacios. In the rainy season floods are frequent in parts of these parts of these stretches which are completely flat. We then reach Moreda.

Monforte de Lemos - Moreda

Moreda- O Reguengo

After Moreda (its fortress rises on the right) we enter the Municipality of Pantón. In O Reguengo we are surprised by its magnificent Pazo (Manor House); in Castrotañe, the surprise lies in the stones of the track, which may come from a Roman road.

O Reguengo- A Barxa

Outstanding in Piñeiro is the popular architecture of its square, fountain and washing place. In Castillón, there are more Roman remains. We continue on shaded by the huge shadows of the oak trees and we go on by O Outeiriño, Virís, O Camiño Grande and A Barxa, now in the lands of O Saviñao.

A Barxa- Belesar

We cross the town of Rendal, and then other villages in order to go down to Diomondi, where we are impressed its Romanic Church.
We go down to the bridge of Belesar over the Miño. Accompanied by the socalcos (terraces) — the vineyards on terraces —.

We enter Belesar, where there is an ancient hospital. We then arrive at a hard climb for approximately r kilometres, to San Pedro de Líncora — now in the Municipality of Chantada, also with a hospital in the Middle Ages —, we now walk among magnificent views of the river.

Belesar- Chantada
