Stage: Quiroga-Monforte de Lemos
The River Lor, which flows down crystal clear from the Serra do Courel, regales us with its snaking progress, boxed in by the valley. We cross it over a magnificent medieval bridge. Then we reach Monforte de Lemos. We are in the middle of the Ribeira Sacra, art and nature in a territory recognised in 2003 by the European Council as an Itinerary of Interest.
Quiroga- Nocedo
We leave Quiroga by the right bank of the Sil (you can also go through San Clodio, Ribas de Sil, and cross the bridge later to return to this route). We pass the town of Espandariz (the N-120 road) and by O Pontido. We cross San Lourenzo de Nocedo. The route continues along stretches of the LU-933 provincial road.
Quiroga - Nocedo
Nocedo- O Carballo de Lor
We arrive at the Hermitage of Los Remedios and go down to the course of the River Lor through the town of O Carballo de Lor. The river, which flows down crystal clear from the Serra do Courel, regales us with its snaking progress, boxed in by the valley. We cross it over a magnificent medieval bridge.
Nocedo - Carballo de Lor
O Carballo de Lor- Castroncelos
We enter the Municipality of A Pobra do Brollón. We pass by Barxa de Lor and ascend to O Castro and A Lama. On the right there are remains of the Roman gold mine of O Medo. Then we reach Castroncelos.
Carballo de Lor - Castroncelos
Castroncelos)- A Pobra do Brollón
Then we arrive at A Pobra do Brollón and find O Brollón, the origin of the town, together with the lush landscapes of the River Saa.
Castroncelos - A Pobra do Brollón
A Pobra do Brollón- Reigada
A sharp ascent to the Alto da Serra and Mount Moncai takes us into the Municipality of Monforte de Lemos. We pass Reigada — a place name which refers to the regadíos (irrigation) of all this zone— and we walk along parallel to the River Seco.
A Proba do Brollón - Reigada
Reigada- Monforte de Lemos
We enter Monforte de Lemos by the Rúa Rosalía de Castro and continue by the river walkway to the medieval bridge over the River Cabe.
