On the eve of each Compostela Holy Year
Opening of the Holy Door of the Cathedral of Santiago. This ceremony marks the beginning of each new Compostelan holy year, which ends on the following 31st of December with another solemn act of closing the same door. Certain pilgrims along the Way seek to reach the city on either of these dates.
