The Way continues to nestle among leafy woods, ready for the surprises on seeing the monuments such as the Castle of Pambre or the historical quarter of Melide. We are in the region of A Ulloa, immortalised by the authoress, Emilia Pardo Bazán, in her famous novel Los Pazos de Ulloa (The Manor Houses of Ulloa) (1886).

The French Way leaves Palas de Rei by the Campo dos Romeiros, a traditional meeting place for pilgrims.

It crosses the main highway and enters a route which leads to O Carballal and then to San Xiao do Camiño, a charming town with an interesting  Church and Calvary.

San Xiao do Camiño- O Leboreiro

After going uphill and downhill for some time, we arrive at A Ponte Campaña, and then Casanova.

We follow the Camino until we cross into another province leaving Lugo behind and entering A Coruña by O Coto so as to go down to O Leboreiro.

The track crosses small hamlets and an industrial zone, beside the main highway, before entering the woods in order to reach the medieval bridge of Furelos, by which we reach Melide, one of the jewels of the civil architecture of the French Way.
