Stage Negreira - Olveiroa
The Fisterra and Muxía Way
Stage: Negreira - Olveiroa
Several stretches of this stage coincide with the old Camiño Real to Fisterra. The region of the Xallas regales us with the beauty of its landscapes and its authentic popular architecture.
Negreira- Zas
We leave Negreira crossing the River Barcala. We go up towards Negreiroa, a small hamlet which was the original population nucleus of Negreira. Several stretches coincide with the old Camiño Real to Fisterra. This is evidenced by the place names as we pass the Camiño Real or Portocamiño.
Negreira - Zas
Zas- O Cornado
Cornovo and Rego de Forxán are the following points. O Cornado is the last town of the municipality area of Negreira, which then passes to the Town Hall of Mazaricos, in the region of Xallas.
Zas - O Cornado
O Cornado- Santa Mariña
The native vegetation and the beauty of the landscapes preside over these first few kilometres: gorse, cornfields, pine and eucalyptus trees, etc., together with the authentic popular architecture of the traditional hórreos (granaries) such as those of As Maroñas and the Romanic Churches such as the Church of Mariña.
O Cornado - Santa Mariña
Santa Mariña- Lago
Mount Aro (556 m) is one of the places of most interest due to its landscape. From here it is possible to see part of the region of Terra de Xallas. This territory is known for its basketmaking craftsmanship and for its original women’s straw hats.
After Aro we come to Campo Valado, Porteliñas and As Abeleiroas.
Santa Mariña - Lago
Lago- Olveiroa
We arrive at the viewpoint of Corzón. On passing the town of Mollón, we come to the bridge over the River Xallas which separates the municipalities of Mazaricos and Dumbría. We reach A Ponte Olveira and then the centre of Olveiroa, the end of the stage.
