The wisdom of Vicente del Bosque concludes the ‘Conferencias con solidaridad’ lecture series organized by Turismo de Galicia
The ‘Conferencias con solidaridad’ lecture series–part of a special programme of activities promoted by Turismo de Galicia to celebrate the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy–concluded today with the wisdom of Vicente del Bosque.
The former national football coach explored the concept of solidarity, ‘the key to a team’s victory’, in a talk that discussed the value of working together, of joint effort within a group so that as a whole they can achieve the goals they have set for themselves. These ideas were presented from the even-tempered perspective of someone who has been faced with numerous tense situations in different positions of responsibility, where selfishness and conflicts of interest undermine solidarity.
The lecture was held at the Hostal dos Reyes Católicos, with journalist Terio Carrera acting as moderator.
Conclusion of the series
This marked the end of the ‘Conferencias con Solidaridad’ lecture series, which offered a total of five events where participants reflected on solidarity around the world.
The first session in the series was led by representatives of different local organizations in Galicia: Lorena Seijo, of the Assembly of Cooperation for Peace (ACPP); José Anuncio Mouriño, of Cáritas; Pablo Rodríguez, of Entreculturas; and Miño Guerrero, of Engineers Without Borders.
The featured speaker at the second event was Manuel Blanco, a firefighter from Seville who works to provide assistance to refugees who reach the island of Lesbos (Greece) by sea. He is the co-founder and vice-president of the association Proem-AID.
José Antonio Bastos, president of Doctors Without Borders Spain, was the speaker at the third session, and Antoni Bruel, coordinator of the Spanish Red Cross, spoke at the fourth event.
