Adeline Rucquoi

Adeline Rucquoi is French. She is Docteur d’État (Doctor) in History by the University of Sorbonne (Paris IV) and Director of Emeritus Research in the C.N.R.S. (National Centre of Scientific Research. France. She is a specialist in Medieval History of the Iberian Peninsula, she is the author and publisher of several books on cultural themes, and has published more than 130 articles in scientific journals.

She is a numerary member of the Société Nationale des Antiquaires de France, and correspondent of the Real Academia de la Historia in España, of the Academia Mexicana de la Historiaand of the Academia Portuguesa da História. In 1999 she joined the “Société Française des Amis de Saint Jacques de Compostelle” as Vice-President in charge of its Centro de Estudios Compostelanos.

She directs the journal Compostelle. Cahiers du Centre d’Études Compostellanes, she has published several articles and books on themes of Compostela and has given numerous lectures on the history of the pilgrimage. She has presides the Société Française des Amis de Saint Jacques de Compostelle since 2007, she is a member of the Archicofradía Universal del Apóstol Santiago and, in 2009, became a Member of the International Committee of Experts of the Camino de Santiago as successor to René de La Coste-Messelière, and as representative of France.
