Five monuments on the Camino in Galicia
The village of O Cebreiro, the Monastery in Samos, the church in Vilar de Donas in Palas de Rei, the church of Santa María de Leboreiro in Melide and the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. These are the monuments that Galicia brings to the program “Hitos del Camino”. The first three are located in the province of Lugo while the last two are in the province of A Coruña.
These monuments of heritage in Galica, forms part of a total of 21 “Hitos del Camino” in the rest of the regions of Spain were the camino passes by. There are four in Aragón, nine in Castilla y León, five in Navarra and three in La Rioja.
This program has been set up to present to the pilgrim a series of monuments along the Camino, grouped by geographical location. Next to each monument there is a sign indicating that this monument is part of this network called “Hitos del Camino Francés”.
So what do these Galician monuments offer for the holy year 2010?
