Legend has it that when the Apostle Saint James - or Santiago as he is known in Spain - preached in Fisterra the Virgin Mary appeared to him in a stone boat guided by angels. As a testimony to this the boat became known as "pedra de abalar" and its sail "pedra dos cadrís", and is believed to cure rheumatism in anybody who passes below them.
