Through a select collection of photographs, the exhibition pays homage to the many hostel volunteers who make up the cornerstone of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago.
The images, which were taken over the past couple decades, from the late 1990s until today, demonstrate the important role these volunteers play at different hostels and locations along the Way of St. James.
It gives viewers a peek into the selfless work carried out each day by Friends of the Way of St. James associations and hostel volunteers around the world, flooding the Way of St. James with the essence of brotherhood and solidarity, and disseminating the cultural and spiritual content of the Camino.
The exhibition’s photographs also explore how as pilgrims travel along the Camino, they find themselves communicating on several levels: with themselves, with the pilgrimage route itself and their companions on the Camino, and with hostel volunteers and locals.
The experience of Tomohiro Muda
In addition, Turismo de Galicia, in partnership with the Friends of the Way of St. James Association of the Southwest, Caudete, and the town council of this Albacete municipality, present the exhibition Way of St. James. A view from the East by Japanese photographer Tomohiro Muda.
This show, which comes to Castile-La Mancha after a long journey begun in 2008, is on view at the Caudete Cultural Centre until 25 March.
The exhibition represents a response to the pilgrimage experience by this Japanese photographer.
