The Way of Sant James

In 2016, the Limited Company for the Management of the Plan Xacobeo signed a total of 21 collaboration agreements with Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago and entities which study aspects related to the Plan in order to develop initiatives in order to highlight the Jacobean route.
Thanks to this aid, it was possible to carry out the conferences and, edit and publish journals and informative material as well as organising numerous exhibitions on the Camino de Santiago and other activities connected to the valuation of the Jacobean route.

The objective of Turismo de Galicia is to foster, with all its work, all those activities aimed at disseminating and studying aspects related to the Camino de Santiago and the Jacobean phenomenon.

Fundamental pillar

The Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago are spread throughout the five continents with more than 300 groups.

All over the world, we can find from important associations such as the one in Holland, with more than 12,000 members, the American Pilgrims, with 34 chapters disseminated throughout the United States to numerous associations in Germany, France, and Spain of a more local nature but which give testimony of the vitality of this associative movement.

Thus, these Associations constitute one of the agents which contributes more positively to the dissemination of the Camino and its international promotion.

Moreover, they carry out important information work involving the handover of credentials, signposting, activities, congresses and publications, conforming one of the basic pillars of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
