The Way of Sant James

It was the year of the Lord of 1708 when two presbyters of the parish of San Martiño de Belesar (Vilalba), sir Nicolás Alvariño and sir Fernando Martínez, asked and obtained from the bishop of the diocese the license to build at their own expense a chapel under the title of the Santo Ángel de la Guarda in Penarredonda.

Since then, three centuries have gone by and, year after year, there’s an increasing number of pilgrims who visit the Penarredonda chapel to worship the Santo Ángel de la Guarda.
