Xacobeo 1993 logo
The corporate image of the Xacobeo since 1993
From our mascot Pelegrín for the 1993 Holy Year down to today, we offer an iconographic tour of the corporate image of S. A. de Xestión do Plan Xacobeo
The 1993 Holy Year was the first modern ‘Xacobeo’, organised by S. A. de Xestión do Plan Xacobeo two years after this organisation was created. The official mascot, created by designer Luís Carballo, was Pelegrín. Carballo also designed the official logo. Both Pelegrín and the 1993 logo depict the pilgrim carrying the traditional staff and gourd.
Pelegrín was the symbol of the first modern ‘Xacobeo’ in 1993, organised by S. A. de Xestión do Plan Xacobeo.
The image used for the following holy years (1999, 2004 and 2010) was created by designer Alberte Permuy, who took as his starting point a more abstract representation of another of the most important symbols of the Way of St. James, the scallop shell.
In 2014, artist Antón Lamazares designed the image for the 800th anniversary of the pilgrimage of St. Francis to Santiago. Drawn on a piece of cardboard, it represents Franciscan austerity and uses the ‘Delfín alphabet’ created by the artist himself.
