The Regional Government of Galicia, awarded the international Trifinium award for its work promoting the Jacobean Route

  • The Regional Minister for Culture and Tourism showcases the Camino as an “encounter between cultures and nations, a path that shaped Europe, Spain and Galicia”

Today at noon the Regional Minister for Culture and Tourism, , Román Rodríguez, participated in the award of the International Trifinium Jacobeo Awards 2015-2018 – organised by the Federación Española de Asociaciones de Amigos del Camino de Santiago (Spanish Federation of Friends of the Camino de Santiago) – where the Regional Government of Galicia (through the company S.A. de Xestión do Plan Xacobeo) was awarded for its work promoting the Jacobean Route.

During his speech, the head of the cultural department of the Regional Government of Galicia expressed his gratitude for this distinction and stated that the Camino de Santiago routes “are much more than a tourism route, a religious pilgrimage or a heritage tour; as they represent an encounter between culture and nations, a path that shaped Europe, Spain and Galicia”.
The career of two members of the International Committee of Experts of the Camino de Santiago, Paulo Caucci and, posthumously, Robert Plötz was also recognised, in recognition of the association movement, their promotion work and their consultation work with several regional governments.
