We bid farewell to Baiona. On the way to the parish of Sabarís, the route passes the lovely historic O Pombal Fountain, then continues along Cristo Rei Street to Sabarís. Opposite the local market, it crosses a Romanesque bridge over the Groba River and continues past the Cadaval manor house to the lovely bridge at A Ramallosa, also Romanesque. A Ramallosa- Nigrán

  • Length 4.2 Km
  • Difficulty Low
  • Estimated Duration 50min

We enter the municipality of Nigrán. This section of the route offers a number of lovely examples of vernacular architecture, the historic Galician country houses known as pazos and stone crosses such as those at Mallón and O Pereiro. Panxón is home to the church known as Templo Votivo do Mar, the work of architect Antonio Palacios, and a Visigothic arch (8th century). This entire stage features lovely fine white sand beaches and a mild climate for most of the year.

We continue along Camiño do Souto and Camiño da Rosiña streets to the centre of Nigrán. After passing two country houses, Urzáiz and Cea, the route climbs up to Mount San Román, then down to Priegue, still in the municipality of Nigrán.

The C-550 road is a constant presence along this entire route. It leads into the municipality of Vigo, Galicia’s largest city–with close to 300,000 inhabitants and more than 500,000 in the entire metropolitan area. It is a major fishing and container port, a bustling, industrial city surrounded by lovely beaches and scenery.
