Stage: Vilanova de Lourenzá-Abadín
As we first climb a steep incline and then make our descent, with every step we are following an ancient medieval trail that crosses the lovely valley of Lourenzá and runs through Mondoñedo, one of the most unique historic towns in Galicia.
Lourenzá- San Pedro da Torre
We leave Vilanova de Lourenzá heading for Mondoñedo. As we first climb a steep incline and then make our descent, with every step we are following an ancient medieval trail that crosses the lovely valley of Lourenzá. In Galician, it is known as the Camiño da Brea (from the Latin ‘boreas’, ‘north wind’, which entered the Galician language as ‘brea’, meaning ‘strong wind with rain’).
We enter the municipal area of Mondoñedo and pass through villages such as Arroxo and Ogrobe, many of them offering intimate chapels open to visitors. The path runs parallel to the N-232 road and we soon reach San Pedro da Torre.

San Pedro da Torre- Mondoñedo
Leaving San Pedro da Torre and its chapel behind, the route continues on to O Reguengo and San Paio. We enter Mondoñedo via the neighbourhood of San Lázaro.
